From the lately information of Resource and Environment Centre, CAS, the number of SCI papers of GIG published in 2008 was 298, which was 55 larger than that in 2007. It ranked fourth in Bureau of Science and Technology for Resources and Environment (BSTRC), CAS. Among it, the number of the first-author SCI papers was 176, ranking third in BSTRC, which is 23 larger than that in the former year.

The number of SCI papers published in top 30% journals rose to 161, 39 larger than that in 2007, and ranked third in BSTR. Particularly, the number of first-author SCI papers was 91, which also ranks third, 16 larger than that in 2007.

Cited times per paper of GIG in 2008 was 5.59, ranking second in BSTRC.
