Applications of structural and metamorphic geological methods to the studies of HT/UHT and HP/UHP metamorphic P-T histories and related metamorphic processes, combined with Thermocalc phase diagram’s calculations, e.g, thermal evolution of the continental crust, petrogeneses of HT/UHT granulites and tectonic settings, UHP eclogites-gneisses and implications for continental deep subduction and exhumation processes.

Current interests: (1) Metamorphic history of Prydz Bay in East Antarctica, with implications for assembly of east Gondwana, (2) Study of the Qinling- Dabie UHP metamorphic terrane in China, with implications for continental subduction, exhumation, (3) Evolution of Dianxi Metamorphic belts in Yunnan.
